Place of the week – Húsavík Whale Watching Capital

Even though fishing and fish processing is the important industry in Húsavík the town is now
well known as the whale watching capital of Europe.

Whale watching trips from Húsavík harbour on traditional fishing boats and passenger boats are getting increasingly popular.

The Húsavik Whale Centre is the first and only information centre on whales in Iceland.

New Touring Maps in Six Languages

New version of our Touring Map is now available in six languages, English, German and French with yellow cover and Spanish, Chinese and Icelandic with blue cover.

High quality overall maps of the country in the scale 1:500 000 with the latest official update about the road system and important tourist information on the map such as accommodation, camping sites, meusums, filling stations, swimming pools, boat tours etc.

On back of the map are photos and information for 34 tourist atractions around the country, list of volcanic eruptions from the year 1700 – 2012, some interestsing facts about Iceland and useful information of how to drive in Iceland.

There is also an explanation of Icleandic place names and night & daylight scheme, useful for photographers. The Touring Maps are available in bookstores and some Information Centres in Iceland.
